Consultation

The GPhC has launched a consultation process in respect of guidance for pharmacy owners, which will outline what is expected of a retail pharmacy business owner to ensure that every member of a pharmacy team is equipped to provide safe and effective services to patients and members of the public.

Guidance

In this regard, the guidance will encompass minimum training standards for both registered and unregistered, together with pharmacy managers who are not registered pharmacy professionals. It is understood that the new guidance will replace the current GPhC policy on minimum training requirements for dispensing/ pharmacy assistants and counter assistants, a copy of which can be accessed here. The consultation process is expected to conclude in mid-October 2017
