David will assume his consecutive period of tenure in the three-year post on 1 May 2022 working with new Managing Partner Robert Shooter.

European law firm Fieldfisher is pleased to announce that David Wilkinson, corporate partner, will continue in his role as the firm's Senior Partner for a second three-year term, effective 1 May 2022, following his re-election to the post.

First elected to the position in May 2019, David will continue to oversee the Supervisory Board, representing the interests of Fieldfisher partners and staff, maintain his focus on strengthening relationships between the firm's international offices and continue his successful programme of client interviews.

He will also continue with his active corporate practice, where he specialises in advising international and domestic clients on M&A, joint ventures, fund-raisings and corporate restructurings.

David joined Fieldfisher as a trainee in 1990 and was made partner in 1999. He is well known for his collaborative approach with colleagues and his passion for improving client service.

As Senior Partner for the past three years, David has worked alongside Michael Chissick, who has served as Managing Partner since 2012 and who will hand over to new Managing Partner, Robert Shooter, on 1 May.

Known as a dispute resolution and regulatory powerhouse with particular strengths in technology, life sciences, energy & natural resources and financial services, Fieldfisher has thrived over the past 10 years, including successfully weathering the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic to emerge in very strong financial shape.

During this time, the firm has also continued its European expansion with significant growth in Germany including the recent opening of Fieldfisher X, an innovative mass litigation practice based in Berlin; the launch of a Dublin office via a merger with a top 20 Irish firm McDowell Purcell; and the rebranding of Fieldfisher JAUSAS as Fieldfisher Spain as part of a longer term integration process.

Commenting on his re-election, David Wilkinson, Senior Partner, said:

"I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been Senior Partner of a firm where collegiality, adaptability and a desire to support our clients carried us through the Covid-19 crisis and continues to distinguish us as a leading European law firm.

"It has been a privilege to contribute directly to the firm's direction over the past three years and I am honoured to be given a second opportunity as Senior Partner, as we prepare to step into the next chapter of the firm's history."

Michael Chissick, Managing Partner, said:

"Working with David for the past three years has been productive and reassuring throughout the upheavals of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"As I prepare to hand over the reins to Rob, I am happy to know David will remain in post to provide Rob and the firm with his support and represent the voices of our partners and staff as we lead the firm into the future."

Robert Shooter, Managing Partner Elect at Fieldfisher added:

"I am delighted that David has been re-elected as Senior Partner. His clarity of purpose and determination to deliver what's best for clients and the partnership will be as invaluable to me as it has been to Michael. I am greatly looking forward to working with him."
