Fieldfisher today announces the appointment of Prof Dr Fabian Stancke who will be joining the firm’s Hamburg office with immediate effect as competition law Of Counsel. Fabian Stancke is a professor teaching competition law as well as banking and insurance law at the Brunswick European Law School at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences.
Fabian Stancke has extensive experience in European and German competition law issues with particular expertise in the insurance, transport, health and consumer goods industries as well as the internet, media and automotive sectors.
He joined Latham & Watkins in 2007 and advised, among others, on the merger control proceedings in the context of the acquisition of shipping company Hapag-Lloyd by a Hamburg consortium. He was also part of the team defending Kemira in a substantial damages case and represented one of the defendants in a prominent Federal Cartel Office antitrust case in the cosmetics industry. Previously he worked as competition counsel in the legal department of Allianz SE in Munich.

Fieldfisher opened its first German office in Hamburg in 2007 and expanded its German practice by integrating two former Howrey offices in Munich and Dusseldorf in March this year. The firm has now 21 lawyers in Germany, including eleven partners. Expanding the German practice is part of a focused plan for growth in the UK and Europe, concentrating on IP and technology, regulation and corporate law. Fieldfisher has currently eight offices in London, Manchester, Brussels, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Munich, Paris and Tokyo with 380 lawyers.
