European law firm Fieldfisher has maintained its position as one of the leading legal advisers to companies quoted on London's AIM market, according to the official AIM Adviser Rankings Guide (ARL) for the second quarter of 2019.

The ARL lists Fieldfisher's equity capital markets (ECM) team as joint-third by overall number of AIM-listed clients, second for basic materials and fourth for oil and gas companies.

Fieldfisher is also a top 10 adviser to AIM-listed financials and consumer services companies, ARL rankings show.

These rankings reflect the success of the firm's strategic focus on clients in the natural resources sector, for which the London AIM market provides an important platform for growth and regulatory oversight.

Fieldfisher is also recognised for its work with businesses in other sectors, such as life sciences, financial services and technology, many of which were clients of the firm before they went public and have been retained thanks to the commercial expertise and entrepreneurial mind-set of its wider corporate practice.

Separately, Acuris has ranked the firm as the top legal adviser by total number of deals completed on AIM for the first half of 2019.

Recent highlights for Fieldfisher's ECM team include advising Independent Oil & Gas PLC on its £185 million North Sea farm out-deal with CalEnergy, on the £105 million private equity sale agreement for Elektron Technology Plc and on Blue Prism Group plc's agreement to acquire Thoughtonomy Ltd for £80 million.

Commenting on the latest adviser rankings, Neil Matthews, Head of Fieldfisher's ECM team, said:

"We continue to perform strongly in our work with capital markets clients, despite the market being broadly flat this year due to wider economic conditions.

"We are fortunate that so many dynamic and ambitious clients choose us to advise them on going public and then to retain our services as they embark on further transactional activity.

"The London AIM market remains an essential growth environment for promising British and international companies and we are confident that many businesses will continue to choose this market to raise funds and create value for the UK economy."
