I am highly experienced in civil litigation and have worked on a wide range of matters including medical negligence, catastrophic injury, industrial disease and commercial disputes. My practice is mainly specialised in costs recovery for high value complex matters and technical points of law. I act on behalf of both receiving and paying parties dependent upon the nature of the case.

A notable case I have worked on, alongside Emma-Kate Hargreave (Partner and Head of Costs at Fieldfisher) was for a paying party, defending a Bill of Costs in the tune of £9million. This was a High Court case concerning a dispute regarding fraudulent misappropriation of billions of dollars. The case involved a technical interlocutory application regarding the format of the Electronic Bill and the case was listed for a six week detailed assessment hearing before Senior Costs Judge Gordon-Saker at the SCCO. Fortunately, we were able to agree the costs in advance of the assessment.

Another notable case is where I acted for a Claimant in obtaining a Default Costs Certificate. This was a complex high value mesothelioma claim. I prepared the Bill of Costs and carried out negotiations. However, the Defendant failed to serve its Points of Dispute on time. The Default Costs Certificate was vigorously disputed and the Defendant filed an application to set aside the Default Costs Certificate relying on "good reasons". The matter proceeded to a hearing before Costs Judge James at the SCCO. The Default Costs Certificate was upheld and the Bill of Costs was paid in full, along with interest and costs of the application.

My day-to-day role involves preparing Bills of Costs, drafting Points of Dispute/Reply, carrying out costs negotiations including joint settlement meetings and taking cases through to detailed assessment. Preparing Costs Budgets, dealing with costs management and budget monitoring following Costs Management Orders. Drafting Schedules of Costs for summary assessment.

Client care is important to me and I regularly provide in-house training on a variety of costs law to our fee earners. I take an analytical approach with my clients, providing technical support to assist clients in fulfilling their role more efficiently.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my cat Arlo, playing netball, long walks and watching horror movies. I am part of Fieldfisher's netball team, although I have no hopes of going professional anytime soon!
